“Don’t be fooled by the calendar. There are only as many days in the year as you make use of.” – Charles Richards

Happy Friday everyone! I’ll be honest, the past couple Friday’s haven’t felt Friday-ish at all due to not being in school but I am here for you all and you made it through another work week! Do you have fun weekend plans? I would love to hear them!

T and I were able to steal away some much needed time together yesterday and I really really needed it mentally. It gets very hard for me to have a whole break with no travel for a couple reasons. The first one being my anxiety. Thinking about how I have work coming up can really encompass me if I’m not careful and I begin to worry about the massive amount of work that comes with teaching full time. With two weeks off that’s a LONG time to be sitting around worrying! Breaks without travel are hard for me also because of this personal stress I sort of induce when on them. Not having to wake up at a certain time and not having a day meticulously planned out can be super stressful for me because of my love of routine. I am working through each of these things but having a mini getaway yesterday was so perfect!

Travel for me is a way to relax and forget about all the small things and really get back to big picture ideas. But if you remember from my last post, I am trying to travel more by saving money and getting rid of debt (this is my new mantra). I feel like the more I say it the more it will come to fruition so you’ve been forewarned 🙂 As a couple T and I really prioritize travel and are both working hard at getting other things in order to be able to travel more.

Luckily we live in Colorado which is basically the meca of things to do. It’s a mini part of my resolution as well to start doing the small things around our state that are so readily available. My friends Emily and Marion, among so many others, are so good at getting out and experiencing Colorado and it is inspiring to me. Who inspires your travels? T and I jetted up to Buena Vista, Colorado and spent the day there yesterday. We went to the hot springs, ate at a great local organic eatery, and just had a lot of fun together. It was a great reminder that “travel” doesn’t have to be a 5 or 10 day camping trip with all these working pieces. I don’t know if it’s because I’m a Gemini or just crazy but when I make plans I tend to make PLANS. Big, multi day, expansive trips with five hundred things involved. I am working on scaling down and remembering the beauty in the small stuff because goodness gracious it is there!

I would totally recommend the Cottonwood Hot Springs. They had 5 soaking pools in the side of a mountain in this totally cute little area not far from town. Getting a day pass allows you to come and go as you please and there are rooms available for rent but we wanted to sleep in our own bed. What little plans do you all have for the weekend? Any little treasured getaways? Let me know! And as always stay safe and have fun XxAbby
